Foodspotting goodness for Inc Magazine

Here's a recent webclip and outtakes of a shoot I did in San Francisco for this July's issue of Inc Magazine. The image ran about a half of a page in the magazine, but since I'll be on the road for the next couple weeks, Im posting this web clip.

I recieved a call to photograph three of the top 30 under 30 entreprenuers, for a smartphone app they've created called, Foodspotting, as they ate their way through 18th St in the Mission. It was there I had my first taste of Bi-Rite Creamery's salted caramel and toasted coconut ice cream deliciousness. From there, I photographed them photographing tarts and cappucinos at Tartine Bakery, pizzas and pasta at Deflinas as they sampled their way with iphones.

Issues regarding Juvenile Justice for the New York Times

Here's a recent assignment I shot for The Bay Citizen and New York Times about the juvenile court proceedings. Because juveniles are minors I wasn't able to photography any court trials, or youth at the Juvenile Justice Center, so I was assigned to photography a family judge and the lobby of the Center.

I recently spent two weeks in mexico researching a project and visiting old friends. i found myself mostly taking snapshots with my iphone then with my camera. at times, it just seemed easier. here's a dyptch of my travels in transit, hovering over Mexico City and on the road to Guanajuato.

OSI reports on abuse in mental health care and detention centers

In early 2010 I was researching and photographing a project on drug abuse in Cambodia when I stumbled across a detention center outside Phnom Penh, the capital, with my Khmer driver. At the time i had no idea about the history of this center. But I asked if i could come in. the woman who ran the center showed me three rooms: one for men, one for women, and a classroom. The men and women rooms were locked. and the classroom was open. the center was fairly empty, and quite eerie. She allowed me to go into the locked rooms and meet some of the people, who mostly were mentally ill, that were living there. The walls were yellow and there were no beds. they slept on the floor and were kept locked all day long to only be let out to use the latrines or wash. I found out that OSI was in the process of making a report on abuse in mental care facilities, as well as abuse on detention centers, so I contacted them about my pictures.
